Rihanna owned the night of the 2017 Met Gala, a fundraising benefit for the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City.

This year, the Comme des Garçons designer Rei Kawakubo was honored with an exhibition entitled “Rei Kawakubo/Comme des Garçons: Art of the In-Between.” Rihanna showed up according to the theme, in a Comme des Garçons gown, and her own design for Chopard.

Rihanna talked with Vogue’s André Leon Talley on her Comme des Garcons dress, taking an hour to get into her shoes, and pushing the limits of art and style.

“I love art, and I think it’s such a free range of expression, you can do whatever you want with it and that space. It just gives you that freedom to be whatever you want, however you want, wear whatever you want, sing whatever you want. – Rihanna
